The neighborhood
The commune of Gajan is a small town of about 700 inhabitants, located northwest of Nîmes, in the natural region of Leins Gardonnenque. Gajan is situated along an ancient Roman road. On this territory, ancient remains have been found, including mosaics and remnants of Gallo-Roman baths.
History:
Located at the junction of an ancient Roman road and the old commercial road, now called "Chemin Urbain V," the village has been a significant site for commerce and passage at various times. The castle, which can be admired today, was given to the bishop of Uzès by Philip Augustus in 1211.
